Big Four PwC has appointed Emma Suchland as UK Private Affairs Manager. Kevin Ellis, chairman and senior partner of PwC UK, said the move will help the firm capitalize on “different skills, experiences and perspectives” within its management.

Ellis added, “Our goal remains the same: to bring together the strength of our people, our capabilities and our technology to solve important problems, build trust and deliver lasting results for our customers and communities.

Manchester-based partner Suchland will now lead PwC UK’s private enterprise team of over 650 professionals. A former EY and BDO tax expert, she has worked for nearly 25 years with entrepreneurs on operational tax issues, compliance and governance, international expansion, financing and refinancing structures, as well as additional acquisitions and divestitures.

Suchland said of his new challenge: “It is an exciting time to take on this role and support UK private business owners as they navigate the demands of environmental, social and governance issues. Their dominance of key sectors of the economy is such that if they make these issues a priority, they can change the world.

She takes on the role as private businesses across the UK grapple with fundamental challenges to the way they operate. According to Suchland, they have responded to crises such as the coronavirus, Brexit-related uncertainty and a number of other issues with “agility and creativity”, just like the professionals at PwC.

Looking ahead, Suchland added, “As we move forward, I’m excited to see how much more we can do with our customers. Private businesses are the lifeblood of many of our communities. I am committed to bringing the best of PwC to our clients and helping them take advantage of the opportunities created by this ever-changing world.
